About

Duration: 1 hour  |  CEU Points awarded: 2 General (CEUs), Level 1, Accreditation Number: MDB015/MPDP/123/437 This one-hour postgraduate session explores the complex interplay between hormonal fluctuations, connective tissue integrity, and injury susceptibility in female athletes. Participants will examine the bio-mechanical and neuromuscular implications of hyper-mobility spectrum disorders (HSD/hEDS), menstrual cycle phases, and hormonal contraceptive use. The course highlights sex-specific anatomical and physiological factors - such as Q-angle, posterior tibial slope, and Estrogen’s effect on connective tissue - that contribute to increased risk of ACL rupture, patellofemoral pain, and bone stress injuries. Evidence from recent cohort studies and scoping reviews will be integrated to support clinical reasoning and rehabilitation strategies. Emphasis is placed on menstrual cycle tracking, load management, and neuromuscular control to optimize performance and reduce re-injury. Attendees will leave with practical tools for screening, customizing rehab, and educating athletes on hormonal health and injury prevention.
