About

Duration: 1 hour  |  CEU Points awarded: 2 General (CEUs), Level 1, Accreditation Number: MDB015/MPDP/123/438 This one-hour postgraduate presentation explores the latest evidence and clinical strategies for managing Lateral Ankle Sprains (LAS) and Chronic Ankle Instability (CAI) in neuromusculoskeletal physiotherapy. Participants will examine the biomechanical, sensorimotor, and neuroplastic changes associated with recurrent ankle sprains, and how these influence rehabilitation outcomes. The session integrates current research on ligamentous healing, proprioceptive deficits, and motor control dysfunction, with emphasis on assessment tools such as the Cumberland Ankle Instability Tool (CAIT), balance testing, and functional hop protocols. Rehabilitation principles will be discussed, including progressive loading, neuromuscular retraining, and return-to-sport criteria. Case-based discussion will highlight clinical reasoning, differential diagnosis, and prevention strategies. By the end of the session, physiotherapists will be equipped to apply evidence-informed interventions to optimize ankle function and reduce recurrence in athletic and general populations.
