About
Duration: 1 hour 15 minutes | CEU Points awarded: 1 General (CEUs), Level 1, Accreditation Number: PPB007/2025/04/009 This course provides an in-depth exploration of sports-related shoulder pathology, offering physiotherapists a clinical perspective that builds on undergraduate knowledge. In daily practice, we frequently encounter common shoulder conditions—but we must also be equipped to recognize and manage those less frequent, yet significant pathologies. You will gain a clear understanding of impingement syndrome, including how it is classified by both site and cause, and how multiple contributing variables can be addressed through targeted physiotherapy. The mechanics and clinical presentation of rotator cuff–related pain, shoulder instability, and labral injuries are thoroughly covered. Emphasis is placed on understanding the role of the labrum in shoulder stability, with conditions such as Bankart and Hill-Sachs lesions explained. The course also covers SLAP lesions and their classification, as well as GIRD (Glenohumeral Internal Rotation Deficit)—a common but often overlooked issue in overhead athletes. Scapular kinesis and dyskinesis are addressed through practical video demonstrations, highlighting their relevance to shoulder pathology. In This Course, You Will Learn: To identify and classify impingement syndrome by site and cause How to reduce the burden of impingement using evidence-informed treatment strategies The pathomechanics of rotator cuff pain, shoulder instability, and labral injuries How Bankart, Hill-Sachs, and SLAP lesions occur and are classified To recognise and assess GIRD, scapular kinematics, and small but clinically important pathologies To apply this knowledge in real-world practice through video demonstrations and clinical reasoning. By course completion, you’ll be better equipped to assess and treat a wide spectrum of shoulder pathologies with confidence and clarity.
