This course will guide you through how to ask the right questions, interpret the answers, and use clinical reasoning to lay a strong foundation for each patient’s journey. You’ll learn why the first interaction with your patient is critical—and how to make the most of it by guiding the assessment with structure and purpose. Whether the presentation is acute or chronic, knowing what to ask, when to ask it, and how to interpret the answers is key. The course introduces the concept of “SIN” (Severity, Irritability, and Nature) and explains how to apply the Visual Analogue Scale not just for pain, but for associated symptoms. You’ll also explore the use of red and yellow flag systems as safety nets for both clinician and patient—ensuring key issues aren’t missed. In This Course, You Will Learn To: 1. Understand the value of a structured subjective assessment 2. Start clinical reasoning from the “get-go” 3. Navigate assessments for both acute and chronic patients 4. Apply the SIN concept to guide your approach 5. Use the Visual Analogue Scale for meaningful symptom tracking 6. Recognise red and yellow flags to safeguard your treatment plan 7.
